November is Adoption Awareness Month, and if you’re like me, you’ve seen quite a few social media posts about how expensive and inaccessible adoption is. So today, I’m taking you through our the receipts and costs that we paid out while becoming Adopt-Ready. I’m tallying up the actual cost of becoming an adoptive parent in Ontario, Canada.
I neglected to mention in this video what the legal costs are to finalize an adoption in Ontario. While we haven’t gone through that process, my understanding is that it is paid for by the Province, and in fact, adoptive parents & children don’t even need to show up to court (although most do!).
If finances are a barrier to considering adoption for your family, consider looking into foster care adoption. There are a ton of obstacles to adoption, but finances doesn’t have to be one of them!
