Nutella Pastry Pockets

If you haven’t been to Tim Horton’s lately, you must not live in Canada.
But if you do, you’ve probably been to one in the last few weeks. Have you tried the Nutella Pastry Pockets? We are in love with them at our house.  They are sugared pastries filled with Nutella Hazelnut Spread, and they are SO delicious!

However, chances are they won’t become a menu mainstay.

In preparation for their farewell, I decided to come up with a suitable homemade alternative.  They aren’t deep fried, but they’re almost as good.  And they’re easy to make too, so you can’t go wrong!

All you’ll need is canned pastry (I used Pillbury Crescent Rolls), Nutella (of course) and sugar.  Water will help you seal the pastries into those cute little pockets.

Here’s a quick recap:

1. Spread out your dough and seal any perforations by pressing with your fingers.

2. Cut dough into rectangles.

3. Put about a tablespoon of Nutella on each piece (or more, if you really like Nutella).

4. Fold the pastry over the Nutella, pressing to seal each seam with a bit of water.

5. Roll each pocket in white sugar.

6. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet seam down.

7. Bake at 350F for 10 minutes or until brown along the edges.  Flip each pocket and bake for another 1-2 minutes.

8. Drizzle with chocolate sauce, and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.  Enjoy!
