Safari Tales {Game Review}

My kids love video games, and in all honesty, I love the peace and quiet when they’re playing them.

Sure, I feel a little guilty (okay, a lot guilty) when they’re glued to their screens. But when my kids are playing a game that they love AND that’s educational? Well, I figure that’s a guilt-free win for everyone!

We’ve recently discovered Safari Tales created by Kuato, an app that my daughter really enjoys playing on our Android tablet.

Welcome To The Zoo.ca | Safari TalesSafari Tales is a beautifully designed adventure for kids ages 4 to 10. Players are led through the savannah, meeting new friends, accomplishing tasks and having fun along the way. They’ll even earn stickers as they go!

Children will learn about the animals, work on their reading and sentence-building skills, exercise their decision-making skills, and develop their creativity.

We love the graphics and the soundtrack! It’s a full-fledged 3D game, not a two dimensional points game like many other apps. Your guide through the game, Darwin the Meerkat, is helpful and endearing, and answers questions from your child via word selection wheels. At the end of each adventure, a story book is created that your child can read now or save for later.

One of the best features of Safari Tales is the Parents Corner. Parents can set their child’s reading age, email notifications of their child’s progress and the art they create in the game, and put a limit on the play session time (choose from 10, 20, 30 or 45 minutes). Profiles can be created for more than one child too!

Take a look at my daughter playing Safari Tales in this video:

On an Android device, Safari Tales disables your device’s back button, which ensures that your child stays in this app. No more accidental calls or repeated nonsense texts to Daddy while he’s at work! To exit the app, you’ll need to press your home button. If you don’t have a home button (like our tablet in the video), you’ll need to power off the device to exit the app. We did find this to be a bit counterintuitive, but we figured it out pretty quickly.

Safari Tales is an engaging game that your child will love! Not only will they enjoy it, but they’ll learn lots while playing it. Download Safari Tales from Google Play , The App Store, or The Amazon Marketplace.
